Homes on the Cocle river (los hogares de rio cocle)
The landscapes north of the Continental Divide are breathtaking in their natural beauty. Sadly, this area used to be prime triple canopy forest. Yet, one can appreciate the lovely scenery and the simple lives these people lead.
Los panoramas del norte de la Cordillera te dejan sin aliento con su hermosura natural. No hace mucho esta área era un bosque virgen de canopea triple. Aun se puede apreciar los paisajes bonitos y la vida sencilla de la gente de esta área.
Entire extended families live together in one little hut, usually built off the ground with the area underneath providing shade and shelter for the animals. These homes can be built quickly using the trees being cleared for pasture.
Familias enteras viven juntas en una pequeña choza, normalmente construidas de dos pisos con el espacio debajo ofreciendo protección a los animales domésticos. Estas chozas se pueden construir rápidamente utilizando los árboles que se usan para hacer potreros.
Some huts are built really close to the river. You can see where the water has eroded the shore and the river can flood above that point when there are heavy rains.
Algunas chozas esta construidas demasiado cerca al río. En la imagen puedes ver hasta donde llega el rio, el mismo se ha llevado parte de la orilla y puede crecer más alto que ese punto cuando llueve fuerte.
These rustic and cozy homes have a lot to offer. There are the smells of breakfast and coffee being made on a wooden stove and fish in the smokehouse. The sounds of the river to sleep to at night. Then there’s the beautiful sights of the mountains, the river, and the sea.
Estas chozas rústicas y acojedoras tienen mucho que ofrecer. El aroma del café y del desayuno hecho en una estufa de madera y pescado ahumando en el ahumador. Escuchas el sonido del río en las noches al dormir. Y después, te deleitas con hermosas vistas de montañas, del río, y del mar.
